Chairman's Message

MOST REV. LUMEN MONTEIRO, CSC, D.D.

JUST is the social development organization of the Catholic Diocese of Agartala and has been involved in various development Initiatives in Tripura. It works within the frame work of the vision and mission, namely self-reliance through empowerment, networking with like-minded NGOs, to help build a better society. It also works within the frame work of the Catholic Social Teaching which emphasizes that we work for those on the peripheries of society. This demands a critical engagement of peoples' Institutions with the governance structures at different levels, and JUST is committed to this task. The Annual Report for 2022-23 is presented to our Readers and Partners highlighting the several programs and interventions that were conducted during three porting year. The Annual Report is a tangible way of presenting the activities of the organization to our well wishers, partners and readers. JUST works in a number of programs and in initiatives within the State of Tripura. Some of the important ones are worth mentioning are: Facilitating Agricultural Regeneration Measures [FARM-Northeast]; Building Bridges through Peace and Conflict Transformation in Northeast; Education Centres against School Dropouts of the Indigenous Reang community; Women Empowerment through Capacity Building programs; and Education accompaniment to minimize School Dropouts among the indigenous tribal communities. In the Building Bridges through Peace and Conflict Transformation in North east Project, the target groups are strengthened to promote peace and reduce violence. In the Women Empowerment Project the focus is on strengthening and enhancing the capacities of women, thereby promoting women's social emancipation. The FARM-North east Project has been empowering the community fo nutritional food intake by adopting organic farming, horticulture and animal husbandry as sustainable livelihood options. Several other Projects have been implemented byJUST and they are well documented in the Report. I ask you dear Reader to go through them and experience the joy of the beneficiaries. I want to enclose by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to our hard-working executive Director Fr. Lathees. S, the program Coordinators, the Staff at JUST, and our numerous partners in development. To each end every one of you I say, THANK YOU.
