Jana Unnayan Samiti Tripura (JUST) launched FARM NE - IV programme on 26th March 2023 at Holy Cross School Hall, Depacherra under Karbook Subdivision. There were around 85 farmers and SHG members in the launching program. The Chief Guest was Dr.Ranadir Sharma, the Senior Scientist in KVK for Gomati District. The Special guest was Fr. Lawrence Darlong, the Parish Priest cum Principal of Holy Cross School, Depacherra. The program began with a welcome address and introduction of the program by Fr. Lathees S, Director, JUST. Fr. Lawrence spoke about the need for SHGs and Farmer Clubs in the Parish like Depacherra. He extended his happiness by assuring that he shall be present and the place will be made available for any programme conducted by JUST in the future days. He concluded his speech by wishing the very best for the upcoming assignments. Dr. Ranadir Sharma, the chief guest spoke on the significance of international year of Millet. In his speech he said that all types of millets can be cultivated in Tripura. He also said that KVK will render its help to JUST for training the Farmers and SHGs Scientifically and traditionally on the process involved on cultivation of millet and also provide seeds. After the program he distributed foxtail millet to the Farmers. The SHGs from different villages brought vegetables consisting of mostly wild edibles and jhum products and sold them. Each group earned Rs. 5,000 to 7,000 approximately. 100 Saplings of different species were also distributed to the people. The program ended with a sumptuous meal for all.
